A Preventable Death
In 2017, thousands have lost their lives in road accidents, more have lost a body part, and the majority have lost loved ones. The recent effort by the State government in Nigeria to reduce the rate of road accidents through the construction of road bumps to force a slow speed regulation yield have had done nothing to reduce the incidence of accidents. The lack of traffic regulatory lights, overtaking on the sharp corners, the trees obstructing drivers’ vision, and non-adherence to road safety rules have all contributed to an increase in road accidents in this region.
Careerbridge Foundation is deeply concerned about the alarming rate of deaths as a result of auto accidents in Nigeria on a daily basis. We are prepared to collaborate with several organizations including the special marshal team, local construction companies, and road safety consultants to develop the road safety intervention program.
